Cats love warm places - just watch him curl up near your radiators and on you deep duvet. They go wherever they are most happy and comfortable (although you could be forgiven for thinking that they sometimes do some things through sheer bloody-mindedness). But, now your cat can help to save the planet.
They can do this using the very characteristic I have just mentioned - their love of comfort. This is how it works. Put your cat in a room and leave him for half an hour. When you next look he will be near or on a warm appliance. It will be the one that generates enough heat to keep him comfortable (clearly, this should not be tried on a warm day otherwise the cat could overheat). That warm appliance is warm because of its energy output (and therefore consumption). It is a major contributor to global warming in the world and the carbon emission effect.
There was a story which I reported on about Frank the kitten who was found with a broken leg and other injuries after he was seen to be sleeping under the hood of a car lying against the engine block. Frank was a clever cat (rather than the stupid type we perceive him as). He could have been rich and led a very comfortable life if only we had used him for the good of mankind. Just as sniffer dogs sniff out drugs and weapons, so Frank could detect energy guzzling appliances and alert householders to the contributions they are making to the global warming effect.
Let us find some more Franks soon.
