Pette's Cat House Calamity, Begonia Discovery

Reno's, Office is populated by electrical engineers, auto cad technical support personal and they have been trying to grow Spectrum Begonias with marginal success.

Now in all fairness to the Reno office it's located on the 4th floor facing due west in northern Nevada which is approximately 4400' feet above sea level, in high desert geological bowl, air is thin, dry, hot during the day and cold at night with zero humidity; the only humidity in the office is large plastic pond the engineers filled with water, recycling water pump and gold fish; all of tropical plants begonia including leaf plant tropical are located around the pond for humidity.

Reno's senior cad operator went into office on Saturday to finish some design drawings that had to be expressed out that day. Gerald brought Pette his 25 pound, diabetic short haired, domestic yellow tabby in cat carrier Gerald had just taken him to the vet.

Gerald told us later the cat carrier was small and Pette is big; he released Pette to roam free in the office; evidently Pette was none to happy about his cat house incarceration; he bounded out of the cat house flying into ponds, spectrum begonias and large angel winged begonia, broke them in half and then tried to climb the weeping fig jumped up on desks with wet dripping paws, ran across computer keyboards dashed up one of room dividers; precariously balanced and draped himself over the divider went to sleep.

Gerald by then was in near state of hysteria he was terrified Pette had injured himself and everyone in the office would be upset about the begonia plants damage but Gerald being inventive soul; duct taped the angel winged begonia adjusted the stakes after he determined angel wing begonia wasn't broken just bent and placed all of the broken spectrum begonias in dirty office coffee cups filled with tap water finished his drawing, collected Pette and went home.

Gerald told us he wasn't looking forward to Monday's morning annoyed personnel; when he arrived Monday morning for work he was right everyone was upset but not about the spectrum begonias, plant damage.

They were angry about their coffee cups being impressed into begonia remedial therapeutic service and loss of Seamore one of their favorite twenty five cent goldfish; Pette had evidently indulged in one of his favorite pass time "Eating".

The Pette episode took place five weeks ago and all of the spectrum's are regenerating new roots; proudly sitting around the plastic pond in dirty coffee cups. The Reno office anticipates the spectrum begonias will be repotted when the roots are inch and half too, three inches long. Pette's cat house calamity turned out to be blessing in disguise; we discovered broken spectrum begonias can be resurrected even in Reno Nevada.
