Rascals In Fur

If you've ever been around kitties then you will know how really rascally they can be. Rascally and loving at the same time. They love to pad their beds (kneading) and rub their scent on everything to claim it as theirs. They rule the roost and are really persnickity when it comes to toys and other play things. Have you ever taken a laser pen and watch them chase the red dot? We've gotten the kitty to get out of breath chasing that dot so that she will sit down and stare at that red dot. She will just rest then start chasing it all over again until she is worn out.

The indoor kitty has to have special treatment because it is up to you to keep its curiosity up. It is good exercise for the kitty and a good laugh for you. The kitty loves to be the queen of the jungle even though her jungle has carpet and furniture. Speaking of which it is wise to provide your cat with its own furniture that way she will not be scratching and digging on your furniture. The secret to preserving your furniture is to provide her with cat trees and cat condos so that she can take her scratching out on it. Always place the condo in the way of the furniture the rascal has her paws on. You have to correct her and then place her on the cat furniture. This way she will get trained to do her mischief business on her cat furniture and not on yours. During the day when you are at work the kitties are generally sleeping and if your training is done properly then any scratching will be done on her furniture.

It is important to remember that when you come home it is time to play with the kitty. This will keep their interest up and reinforce your good training. The kitties look forward to your coming in the door and playing with them. Just like young children young kitties need more attention than older, more mature ones. Enjoy the rascal while they are young because as they mature a lot of the games have gone out of them but they still enjoy a romp with the feather or the laser pen. Kitties are curious and that is ingrained in their nature, albeit to a greater extent when they are young rather than when they are older. Enjoy your rascal and they will love and enjoy you.
